Royal Oudh is a stylish and warm fragrance with a beautiful kaleidoscope of woody, aromatic green and spicy nuances. The note of oud is an integral part of the composition, playing its role in balanced equilibrium with other notes. With a cologne vibe.
“Leaving your skin better than when we first met.”
Description of Shaving Soap:
Van Yulay’s makes a croap shaving soap. It is not a cream nor a hard puck. It is in between soft & hard.
Van Yulay whips up into a yogurt like cream lather in just a few minutes. Enjoy a rich and creamy protective lather with skin protective loaded with enriched vitamins and amino acids. We make each soap with your skin in mind. Ph balanced to have a smooth and irritation free shave. Each soap is piped in beautifully in an 8 oz. container.
How to use:
Soak your shave brush in a bowl or cup filled with hot water for a few minutes before your shave. Apply a warm, damp towel to your face (or splash face with warm water) to prep your face for shaving. Apply another hot towel to your face for a few seconds. After the brush has soaked, gently squeeze out excess water, still leaving the brush mostly wet. Apply the brush to the soap in fast, repeated circular motions to coat the brush bristles well. Shave and rinse face thoroughly with cool water. For an optimal experience, finish with Van Yulay After Shave Splash then followed with your After-Shave Balm by Van Yulay.
Shaving Soap Contents:
- Tallow – has been used as an effective skincare ingredient for centuries! As your skin need all vitamins to replenish the daily lives, tallow has Vitamin A, D, E and K, as well as Omega – fatty acids.
- Emu Oil – contains high levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids, therefore it is able to easily penetrate the skin’s barriers for deep moisturization. When compared to other types of oil, emu oil had 2-4 times greater penetration of the skin. These effects show that emu oil is able to moisturize and rejuvenate the skin extremely effectively.
- Silk Amino Acids – This silk forms a natural layer over the skin, keeping moisture locked in and harsh conditions out, leaving skin protected and well-nourished.
- Babassu Oil is an antioxidant and will help destroy the free radicals that cause premature aging and cancer. The oil is naturally anti-inflammatory and is often used to treat skin conditions such as eczema.
- Coconut Fatty Acid – excellent lathering and conditioning when used in shave soap.
- Bentonite Clay – Gives an extra creaminess and silkiness to the shave soap. Generally, white clay’s natural absorbing, detoxifying and exfoliating properties makes it an indispensable ingredient in shaving products.
- Silk Amino Acid is a unique silk peptide and one of the best at reducing fine lines and other signs of aging. Aside from the amazing texture of silk extracts, silk amino acids contain properties which allow it to rejuvenate skin tone, reduce wrinkles and hydrate your skin tissues to protect from free radicals.

Van Yulay has been in my short rotation for some time now. With a collection approaching 20 Van Yulay soaps, I’ve sung their praises so much, I may as well be a spokesperson. As a result, I’ll just stipulate that the soap provides a luxurious, dense, protective lather that’s easily built on my face despite hard water.
This was my first experience with their homage to Creed’s Royal Oud. Never having smelled Royal Oud, I can’t speak to the accuracy of Royal “Oudh”. However, after this shave, I’m tempted to explore this. It’s an elegant fragrance without being snobby. I feel like it’s appropriate for both business and casual, and with the right chemistry, would likely smell equally great on the fairer sex. I understand concentrations and origins play a role, but despite its namesake, this doesn’t really say oud to me. Instead, I do pick up on a spicy cedar and sandalwood with a gentle thick musk mitigated by a sweet citrus that’s somewhere between mandarin and lemon. The splash is more of the same, if not a bit more of the sweetness. 2 hours later, the fragrance has gotten sharper and less sweet, more of less resembling bergamot. I also note a very faint intermittent powder that I associate with Van Yulay’s splash base.
While I don’t tend to gravitate to cologne-scented shaving products, Royal Oudh is a very nice fragrance that has me re-thinking that custom.

This scent is inspired by Creed’s Royal Oud, and is darker, smookier, if you think old school vintage man’s scent this is it.
Lather is fantastic, add water a little at a time and you will be able to whip this soap into that slick yogurty texture and volume that is the holy grail of shaving soaps.
Definitely one of the better soaps I have used.

All of Monica’s soaps are made with what’s good for your skin in mind, and that includes her shaving soaps. Ingredients are top notch and performance is excellent.
But what stands out most to me here is the Royal Oudh fragrance. It is fantastic! I have over 100 shaving soaps from various artisans and dozens of EDP and EDT fragrances. Out of all those different scents, this is one of my favorites. I love it so much that I have several of the Royal Oudh shaving soaps (pucks and croaps) and aftershave splashes, as well as the deodorant and cologne. And the cologne, in terms of scent strength, is at least an EDP and may well qualify as parfum. One of my friends went so far as to describe it as an attar. A little goes a long way. And it’s such a pleasing scent that I feel confident wearing it in any setting, any time of day, and in any season. In short, I highly recommend all the Van Yulay products that share this Royal Oudh accord.

This is a wonderfully complex and intoxicating aroma! I think I’ll have to purchase the Van Yulay cologne for this scent cause it’s good stuff! And the soap is a creamy, slick joy to use! I highly recommend!
